Some researchers have found that adding United Kingdom tomatoes cooked in food every day improves the skin's ability to protect themselves from ultra-violet rays which are dangerous.
Researchers at the University of Manchester and the University of Newcastle found that add five tablespoons tomato paste in a food diary on 10 volunteers can help avoid skin damage by providing protection against the impact of the ultra-violet rays.
The ravages of the rays that can lead to premature aging and even skin cancer.
In one study, researchers gave 10 volunteer as much as 55 grams of tomato paste standard which contains high levels of cooked tomatoes and 10 grams of olive oil each day, while the 10 participants again given only olive oil.
After three months, a group of skin examples given tomatoes showed they have a 33% additional protection from sunburn, with very little protective cream factor of sunlight, and levels of procollagen is much higher. Procollagen molecule that gives the skin the packing and keeping it chewy.
These studies showed antioxidant lycopene, found in most high concentrations when tomatoes have been cooked, are behind the real benefits.
"Food is tomatoes prominently pushing levels of procollagen in the skin. This increase shows the potential of reversing the aging process of skin, "said Lesley Rhodes scholars, skin diseases at the University of Manchester, the cited BBC.
However there is a warning that the tomatoes must be viewed as an additional benefit and not as an option for the protective cream of sunlight.
Researchers said the study was smaller and shorter, and they are now considering doing new research about the benefits of lycopene for skin.
